Holiday Gift giving and Rotary Santa Sighting at Life Care in Acton

On December 20th Santa Claus was spotted cheerfully greeting nursing home residents in their rooms with presents and hearty wishes for a Merry Christmas. Meanwhile members of the Rotary Club of Acton-Boxborough continued to sort the presents and then later sing Christmas carols to the residents sitting in common areas.

This gift giving event is an annual tradition of the Rotary Club of Acton-Boxborough where club members purchase and wrap specifically requested gifts for 4-5 residents like lotions, blankets and sweaters. It is truly one of the Rotary Club of Acton-Boxborough’s most spirited annual community service traditions and brings so much joy to the residents and to the Rotarians.

Rotary Club of Framingham hosts Annual Christmas Party for SMOC Head Start Children
For over 15 years the Framingham Rotary Club has held a Christmas party for children from Head Start, a federally funded preschool program to promote school readiness for kids from low-income families in Framingham run by the South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC).  Over 50 children joined Framingham Rotarians for a lunch at Ken’s Steakhouse of chicken fingers, French fries and ice cream. Then, Jojo the Magician, a 15 year old 10th grader from Framingham High School, entertained the children.

Jojo Garcia has been performing magic acts throughout the Metro West area for the past four years, at numerous venues.  Following the magic show, Santa greeted the children and gave each presents, which included a hat, knitted mittens and coloring book.  The presents were wrapped by Fuller Middle School students who belong to the school’s Rotary-sponsored community service Interact club.

Sturbridge Rotary assists community members in need at Christmas

Rotary worked with Burgess Elementary School to identify 41 Burgess families going through difficult times this Christmas.  The John Paul II Food Pantry along with Rotary members delivered 41 boxes of food which Rotarians had helped to assemble.  While the club had previously donated items for the baskets, this was the first year with hands-on delivery of the food, cards and gifts.  Club members’ efforts were openly appreciated, giving a much closer look at the impact of our humanitarian work as Rotarians.
Rotary Club of Westwood spreads holiday cheer!

The Rotary Club of Westwood gets together with residents of Foxhill Village to make holiday baskets of greens to be given to the local food pantry.  As recipients of the pantry come in to choose their food, they can also pick up a beautiful Decorated basket for their dining table.  Helena Drolette, Pres Elect proposed this project three years ago and now all the members look forward to taking a hand in floral design!!  A fun and giving project for all!
