Foundation Notes: Closer and closer to achieving our goal of ‘Every Rotarian, Every Year’

By Ralph Hammond

Thank you for your continued support of The Rotary Foundation, both programmatically and financially. We continue to make this a great start for Jim Fusco’s 2015-2016 year as district governor, as our clubs are getting closer and closer to achieving our goal of “Every Rotarian, Every Year.” That means an average donation of at least $125 per year by member of every Rotary Club in District 7910.

Recently, I had a team meeting with our district’s Grant Leadership team, Joe Badenhoff, Corinne Braciska and Marie Tremblay, who are the most knowledgeable, caring, kind and supportive Rotarians. They stand enthusiastically ready to assist you with your projects, grant applications, funding, and reporting. We are fortunate to have such knowledgeable Rotarians in our district. I also stand ready to help as strong, meaningful projects build strong, meaningful Rotary Clubs and become an inspiration to motivate the building of club membership.

We hold absolutely to the first-come, first-served system for certified clubs that submit Global Grant applications, which has served us well with more than $7 million in such funding going to club-run projects in our district since 1997.

The Rotary Foundation has earned a top rating of four stars from Charity Navigator. This top distinction is the seventh year in a row received by the Foundation, placing it in the top 3 percent of U.S.-based charities. Foundation funding is spent as follows: 92 percent goes directly to projects; 2 percent, administration; and 6 percent, fundraising. Basically, 100 percent of what we contribute comes back - and it is the interest over three years that pays for administration and fundraising – PR, posters, etc.
