Time Is Flying And We Are Having Fun

By Jim Fusco

Time is flying and we are having fun. I have now visited 41 clubs and only have 11 to go: Bedford, Concord (lunch), Dracut, Fitchburg, Franklin, Marlborough, Nashoba Valley, Natick, Tewksbury, Westford and Westwood.

Although I only had three visits last week - Brookfields, Clinton and Gardner - it was a very busy week.
I and other members of the District Conference Committee traveled to Plymouth to meet with the Radisson Hotel Plymouth Harbor staff, to work out the details for the District Conference in May 2016. We met with the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce to start organizing “Free Time” events for the Conference, and Conference PR Chair Richard Simon took photos and videos that will be used in promoting the Conference - including this one of me trying to channel Jimi Hendrix.
                                                                                                                                                     PLYMOUTH ROCKS!

Bandey Hefler Fellowship Exchange Co-Chair Victor Tom held our final Bandey Hefler Committee meeting last Wednesday. We had 28 in attendance and finalized details for the visit by Rotarians from England that begins on September 29. We still need to fill four hosting slots. So if you are interested in hosting, contact Victor at vtom0@yahoo.com.

One big accomplishment last week was to complete the final review of the 2015-2016 District Directory and send it off to the printer. Copies of the 320-page Directory will be delivered to me early this week, and then I will start distributing them to club leadership. The Directory is chock-full of information and hints that can be used to enhance your Rotary experience. In addition, it contains business ads from your fellow Rotarians, so you can do business-to-business with them. The Directory also contains a complete phone/e-mail/address listing of every District 7910 Rotarian.

The Public Image Forum will be held on Wednesday, September 9, so please plan to attend. PR Chair Laura Spear and her committee have worked hard to plan this event and it should not be missed. PR is the key to letting the public know what we do, which in turn will help grow membership. We need your support! Please register now. To do so, click here.

Rotary Day at the United Nations will be on Saturday, November 7. This is a unique opportunity to visit the UN and meet Rotary International and UN officials. It is quite a thrill to sit in the same seats that are used by our UN ambassadors and delegates. Only 1,300 Rotarians can be accommodated and less that 70 seats are left, so if you want to attend contact Pat and Skip Doyle ASAP at pwdoyle2@verizon.net. (Shown in the center, is Ed Futa, dean of the Rotary Representative Network and a past Rotary general secretary, urging 2014 attendees to make a difference in their communities. Click here for additional photos.)

Finally, I want to thank the club presidents who are using the D-7910 Planning Worksheet 2015-2016 to track their progress. Reporting monthly to clubs on the Planning Worksheet progress is instrumental to having a great year. As I stated in the last Newsletter, every club member should be familiar with the “D-7910 Planning Worksheet 2015-2016," which can be downloaded from the District website. To do so, click here.

Keep up the great work in bringing new members! Thank you for being part of a great organization and for being a "Gift to the World."

We will have a great year!
