Foundation Notes: Great Projects Build Great Rotarians And Strong Clubs

By Ralph Hammond

In this Season of Giving, Rotarians in District 7910 share willingly their personal skills and talents by introducing meaningful projects both locally and globally. Our community-service projects continue to be an appreciated positive impact, making life better for others while strengthening our individual clubs.

Recently, we indicated the Rotary Club of Concord’s possible Summer Music Project for Youth in Concord and Lawrence and the possibility of this project going global. Here is another project that may possibly be considered through the Rotary Club of Hudson. It’s a low-flow water meter that promotes conservation and more accurate billing and will cost perhaps just $1,000 per meter. Because of this latest remote-reading technology, the actual cash savings to each resident and community could immediately provide a savings of thousands of dollars.

Several years back, the Rotary Club of Bedford as well as other clubs installed a defibrillator mounted prominently in the area of the high school’s gym and cafeteria. At a Rotary event that defibrillator was actually used. The idea caught on and the defibrillators are now installed all public-meeting locations as well as in every police cruiser in town. I know personally of three citizens who are alive today because of this Rotary initiative.

The new District Grant requests coming in this year are the best yet, so your support of The Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund-SHARE for District Governor Nominee Designate Steve Sager's 2018-2019 year is more important than ever. We are just slightly behind in our contributions of last year, so please consider seriously making a contribution.

We can all be honored to be in the right organization at the right time with the right people doing global and district grants that do truly impact all of us.

Great projects build great Rotarians and strong clubs.
