On June 3, about 80 people gathered at Lilac Hedge Farm in Rutland for the Wachusett Area Rotary Club’s Annual Spring Fling. Put on hold for several years due to Covid, the event was historically a themed dinner dance and fundraiser. With the focus more on fellowship and fun, and less on fundraising, the Rotarians chose to host a beer and wine tasting event. Eleven local breweries and suppliers showcased their wares, and Rotarians Savvas Fotiadis and Richard Traina, along with some volunteers, showed off their barbecue talents.Despite the rain and unseasonably frigid weather, the beer and wine tasting was well attended. A local entertainment venue, The School Yahd, brought outdoor games for playing, including cornhole and several larger-than-life board games.
The event attracted people of all ages. With plenty of beer, wine, good food and games, everyone had a wonderful time. Rumor has it that the committee is already talking about holding it again next year! What a great way to kick off the summer!
