Some 450 athletes participated in our 26th annual triathlon held on LIttleton's Long Lake, a run through the Prouty Conservation land and biking along the rolling hills of Littleton and Acton. It is the Rotary Club of Littleton's biggest fundraiser of the year.

It was a super fun day for 450 athletes and the 100 volunteers who turned out for a cool, dry day. "We expect to net more than $45,000 for our club to distribute over the year to support our efforts in Littleton and worldwide," said Cheryl Cowley, co-chair of the event. "We started planning in January and are thrilled with the results. Two of our members lead non-profits, which we are happy to support: Deb's Beds, which provides beds for children in the region, and Learning Up, a non-profit in the Volta Region of Ghana that provides access to education and alleviates child labor on Lake Volta."
It
was a club-wide effort, with all hands on deck for setup, execution, and breakdown. A committee of eight spent months planning the event and enrolling local sponsors. The chief of police is a member of the club, which helps in planning some of the logistics. The race included a half-mile swim, a 10-mile bike ride, and a three-mile run. Some teams competed, as well as athletes who chose only two of the three events.
