On a recent trip to the Baltic countries, Lowell Rotarian visited the RC in Riga, Latvia
Rotarian Jim Pope was welcomed to the RIga, Latvia RC this past June. Their club was formed after the Soviet Union broke up in 1991. It was a delightful visit in which we discussed Rotary, our clubs and the looming Russian presence on their eastern border. Much as we are, their District has been merged with another; theirs is in Sweden! Unlike us, they are separated by the Baltic Sea and a language. Jim maintained contact with one of their members who joined Jim for the Riga opera production of Carmen.
