Sandra served for more than 20 years on the board of The National Garden Club. She became a master flower show judge, a master gardening consultant, a master landscape designer, and an instructor of horticulture, travelling throughout the United States and South America, for NGC.
Sandra’s gardens were her pride and joy. On tour many times with her son Terrence Joyce, she contributed many hours of time and effort to help cultivate those gardens' beauty.
Sandra was a Cub Scout den mother for many years. And she was president of the Home and School Association when her children were in elementary school.
For many years, Sandra, along with Irene Sabean produced the Lakeview Newsletter. In 1974, Sandra was deemed “Woman of the Year” by the Enterprise newspaper.
For 40 years, Sandra owned and operated the Apple Valley Flower Shoppe in downtown Hudson, Until retiring in 2013, she perfected the art of flower arranging and designing.
A memorial celebration of Sandra will be held in late summer at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name, to The Garden Club State Federation of Massachusetts (see grant forms), to support a new community-based horticultural-beautification grant.
