Blackstone Valley Rotary again teamed up with the Whitin Community Center (WCC) to provide and prepare a meal for over 160 local residents at the Peace of Bread Community Kitchen in Northbridge.
We like to make something different when its our turn so our menu was Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo with garlic bread and salad - a real treat!
We couldn't have done it without a generous grant from District 7910, an amazing donation from Grille 122 in Whitinsville, the support of WCC Director of Community Outreach, Jenn Castro, and of course our wonderful members and community volunteers!
We prepped and cooked about 60 pounds of chicken with 9 pounds of parm cheese, 5 gallons of heavy cream, 28 pounds of broccoli, 20 pounds of penne, 7 pounds of butter (oh my cholesterol!), 17 loaves of Italian bread, and 80 cloves of garlic!
Most importantly, the meal was a big hit and our team of Rotarians, WCC employees, our friends from the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce, and community volunteers had a good time working together on this impactful project.
