Great Work Our Club Do
By Jim Fusco
I just completed another great week and have now visited 38 of our 51 clubs. With each visit, I appreciate more and more the great work our clubs do.
So far, I have visited Acton-Boxborough, Athol-Orange, Auburn, Ayer, Billerica, Brookline, Charles River, Chelmsford, Concord Sunrise, Dedham, Fitchburg East, Framingham, Groton-Pepperell, Hudson, Leominster, Littleton, Lowell, Maynard, Merrimack Valley, Milford, Montachusett Area, Needham, Neponset Valley, Newton, Northborough, Shrewsbury, Southborough, Southbridge, Sturbridge, Tyngsboro-Dunstable, Uxbridge, Wachusett Area, Waltham, Watertown, Wellesley, Weston & Wayland, Westborough and Worcester.
This week, I will make three visits: Clinton, Gardner, and The Brookfields.
Last Monday, we held our first 2016 District Conference Committee meeting. The planning is well under way and the committee is hard at work producing a promotional video that will be used by the committee members as they visit the clubs. The District Conference will be held on May 20-22, 2016 in Plymouth. Discount packages for Rotarians and Rotarian families will be available when registration opens on December 1
Last Wednesday, my wife, Karen Fusco, and I traveled to the Framingham Country Club to welcome the participants in the third round of District 7910’s Golf Fellowship League, which was hosted by the Rotary Club of Framingham. There were no Holes-in-One, but fun was had by all and we had great fellowship at the 19th hole. This summer’s fourth and final Fellowship Golf outing will be on September 18 at Monoosnock Country Club in Leominster. The host will be my own Rotary Club, Montachusett Area, and the Outing will be coordinated by that club's immediate past president, John Sbrogna.
See a large version of this photo, in the center column of this week’s Newsletter, of the participants in last week’s Golf Fellowship outing at Framingham Country Club, which was hosted by the Rotary Club of Framingham.
Last Friday night, my wife, Karen Fusco and I went to Rotary Night at the Lowell Spinners baseball game. We started off with a BBQ at the park with members and friends of the Rotary Club of Lowell. We were then expecting to enjoy nine great innings of baseball, but the rain came down and the game was called. While we were disappointed, we still had a great time. Thank you to RC Lowell for coordinating a great event.
Remember that I would like to have a minimum of two members from each club attend the district events. The PR Forum and Dinner will be held on Wednesday, September 9, so I hope to see many of you there. To register, click here.
Every third year in the Bandey Hefler Friendship Exchange, District 7910 hosts Rotarians from England. They will be arriving this September 29. We still need hosts, so think about signing up for either a three-night or a four-night hosting experience. It will be one of the best things you will ever get to do as a Rotarian. For the Bandey Hefler brochureclick here. For the Bandey Hefler hosting form, click here.
Please remember that clubs should be using the D-7910 Planning Worksheet 2015-2016 to track progress. Last Friday, I sent a reminder to the club presidents about using the Planning Worksheet as a tool. Reporting by presidents to their clubs monthly on the Planning Worksheet progress will be instrumental to having a great year. Every club members should be familiar with the “D-7910 Planning Worksheet 2015-2016.” To download it, click here.
Keep up the great work in bringing new members! Thank you for being part of a great organization and for being a Gift to the World.
We will have a great year!
