We are happy to announce that Reese Gorini of the Ayer Rotary Club has won the contest to represent District 7910 at the Bill and Gates Foundation in Seattle on World Polio Day, October 24, 2017.
A generous Rotarian donated a hotel and air package for two including two seats at the invitation-only reception for 200 honoring Bill and Melinda Gates. Polio Plus donations between July 1 and September 30 were eligible for the drawing. District Rotarians from twelve clubs contributed $8,225.
The Rotary Club of Bedford has initiated a new membership option known as a Family Membership. On Tuesday, the club inducted with glee its very first “Family Member”, Sze-Wen Kuo. Here’s some information about how this club has structured this new membership type:
Family Members: The purpose of a family membership is to extend the privilege of membership in Rotary to the many spouses and family members who contribute greatly to our club, but as non-Rotarians. To allow immediate family members to achieve full Rotarian status and increase our club’s roster and impact would be beneficial to our club. A Family Member is defined to be one immediate family member (parent, spouse, sibling, child) of a “full” Rotarian who desires to be a Rotarian but is unable to attend all of the lunch meetings.
World Polio Day is going to be bigger than ever, and we want you to be a part of it. Help Rotary and the global health community make polio eradication a trending topic around the world. We’ve made a lot of progress fighting polio over the years, but we still have a lot more work to do to eradicate it for good. We need your help to make that happen.
HELP US FILL THE BOX FOR HURRICANE RELIEF! Falmouth ME middle schoolers got serious about helping victims of the recent natural disasters in the Southern United States. A give-athon was decided by the Falmouth Middle School Community Service Club to support Shelter Box. There were over 20 choices that teachers volunteered to offer. They were all called "a-thons", like yoga-a-thon, and teachers volunteered to staff the room or location where it was being held. Kids signed up in advance for one activity and the teachers took attendance. Kids went home with a pledge sheet to get "sponsored" for their activities and brought their money in the day of the event.
Fellow Rotarians, we look forward to being with you at this exciting and historic event! Join over 500 Rotarians from Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Quebec and Vermont, at the beautiful Mount Washington Resort on May 4-6, 2018. Registration is now OPEN. Here’s what you need to know:
