Certainly, you know about IKEA furniture and you’ve undoubtedly seen and tasted Swedish meatballs, but what do you really know about Sweden?  The Rotary Friendship Exchange with Rotary District 2390, Southern Sweden, provides you an exceptional opportunity to learn much, much more about Sweden - and Swedes, in general.

Rotary’s Friendship Exchange is an international-exchange program for Rotary members and friends that allows participants to take turns hosting one another in their homes and clubs.  Participants may travel as individuals, couples, families, or groups, and may be Rotary members or not. In 2020, our district will participate with Sweden in an RFE.

The benefits of this exchange are many:  broaden international understanding; explore a profession or job in a different context; build enduring friendships; establish a foundation for peace and service; gain opportunities for active project involvement and support; learn about Swedes food, languages, customs, and history; and, find partners for grants, etc.

From May 10 - 18, 2020, District 7910 Rotarians and friends will travel to Helsingborg and Malmo in southern Sweden.  Swedes will visit us from August 23 - 31, 2020.

The RFE format is similar to our district's Bandey-Hefler exchange program with our British friends.  With the Swedes, the length of the exchange will be eight days, and will be hosted by district members over two four-day periods. Travel is self-funded, and, importantly, the major difference from the BH exchange is that RFE hosts are not expected to bear significant costs.
There is room for more District 7910 Rotarians to join in on the trip next May to Sweden - and for hosts back here next August in our district.
