Tantasqua Interact Club is excited to announce its new “Birthday in a Box” program designed to bring birthday magic to children in our community who may not otherwise have the means to celebrate their special day. Each “Birthday in a Box” will contain all the essentials for a joyful birthday celebration, from cake mix and candles to party hats and decorations.
Students created the “Birthday in a Box” project in collaboration with nurses at the local elementary school in order to address a gap in family support. Most food assistance programs do not allow for the purchase of birthday staples such as cake, ice cream, and decorations. The “Birthday in a Box” program will help alleviate some of this expense, ensuring that every child in our community experiences love and celebration on their big day. Each box is personalized to the recipient’s interests and includes a gift card for groceries, as well as a gift from Tantasqua Interact Club for the birthday boy or girl.

In order to fund this project, Interact students held a “Month of Magic” calendar fundraiser through the month of December. Many local businesses generously donated goods and services as prizes. The project is ongoing, and the club hopes to expand it to include other schools in our district. We invite you to join us in our goal of bringing joy and a sense of belonging to kids in our community. If you are interested in becoming involved in the “Birthday in a Box” program, please contact Amy Willard (advisor) at willarda@tantasqua.org.
Tantasqua’s chapter of Interact was chartered in February 2024 through the support of the Rotary Club of Sturbridge.
