Holiday baskets for seniors in Westwood for over 10 years. A simple process that is very much appreciated.
The Rotary Club of Westwood gets together every year (for about the last 10 years or more) to create holiday baskets for the seniors who are unable to get out. We collaborate with the Westwood Senior Center who distributes holiday meals to about 30 shut ins and takes a basket to each of them. We have always received many compliments and how much the seniors enjoy them. There are about 10 rotary members which participate in this production. We get together at the Senior Center (they let us use one of their rooms) on a Saturday morning for 2 hours. Many of use this opportunity to trim our evergreen and holly bushes for the material to be placed in the baskets. This year, we switched to little buckets that were already red and green decorated and could hold the water a little better. We completed about 35 that will be distributed. Much fun was had with the group together and music in the back ground.
