Another Successful EARTH DAY Cleanup by Rotary Club of Southborough
For the 28th year in a row, the RC of Southborough partnered with Southborough DPW to hold an annual Earth Day Cleanup event in town.

This is a popular community service project that many in town look forward to participating in when spring rolls around.  Volunteers checked in at 8:00 am on Saturday April 21st at the DPW office. They selected a cleanup area from a large town map on display & DPW volunteers made of who was going where for cleanup work. This simple process makes it easy to see what cleanup coverage is achieved.

Volunteers were given trash bags, and could also snag this year’s  event t-shirt that included the event sponsors listed on the back. Then they headed out to clean up their designated areas. DPW estimates 1-2 trucks worth of trash is gathered each year by volunteers at this event. At noon crews gathered for pizza lunch, also organized by Rotary, at the downtown gazebo. New this year was the RC of Southborough also offering volunteers free tiny trees as part of District 7910’s participation in the worldwide Rotary Arbor Day initiative to plant 1.2 million trees worldwide. The tiny trees were a big hit with the kids!
