The Rotary Club of Concord partnered with the Concord Recreation Department to hold a Pinewood Derby for their after school program. Our club has worked with the Assabet Valley Boys and Girls Club in the past to hold this event and thought it would be fun to branch out. There are plans for more Pinewood Derby's in the future since they are so much fun for everyone, adults and children included!
Several of our members worked to assemble the cars and build ramps the first day. The children had so much fun decorating their cars in anticipation of the race the next day.
Rotarians Richard Warren, Karl Kussin, Sharon Spaulding and President Jeanne Armocida planned the event and were there to help with everything and cheer the kids on during the races. Concord Rotarians enjoy working with children to teach teamwork and good sportsmanship.
