The Rotary Club of Littleton (MA) is once again holding a winter clothing/blanket drive for the Lowell Transitional Living Center (LTLC), starting immediately and continuing until December 31.
The LTLC is located in downtown Lowell and serves the entire Merrimack Valley. It is a client-centered shelter for homeless adults, providing shelter and services for 60 adult males and 30 adult females. For nearly 40 years, the LTLC has offered short-term housing, food and support services to those on their journey to permanent housing.
Last year the LTLC served 1162 individuals, and is already seeing an increase in the number of individuals in need of help. As the only organization providing a Winter Emergency Bed Program in this area, the LTLC anticipates a dramatic increase in those numbers over the next few months.
Since the LTLC winter program serves only single adults--and their donation center has limited space--but the staff of the LTLC has asked us to collect gently used and clean items as follows:
Warm winter jackets and coats (all sizes, including 3XXX)
Hats
Gloves (all sizes)
Mittens
Gently worn boots (all sizes)
Blankets
Hand/Foot warmers
Sweatpants/Sweatshirts
Winter socks
The Rotary Club of Littleton has placed collection boxes for these items at several locations in Littleton, including the Cowley Real Estate office at 319 Great Road (phone 978-486-3231); the Edward Jones Financial Office at Great Road, Suite 8 (phone 978-479-2306); all of the Littleton public schools; the Reuben Hoar Library; and Donelan’s Supermarket. Before dropping off items at the businesses above, please call their offices at the numbers listed above to make sure that there is someone available to receive the items inside their buildings.
Thank you for your generosity.
