The Eastern States Student Exchange (ESSEX) has reached the difficult decision to cancel all short- and long-term Rotary Youth Exchanges for the 2021-2022 school year.
Concern for the health and safety of students travelling around the world during the later stages of the COVID-19 pandemic has been the primary consideration for the ESSEX Board of Directors. The school districts both here in the U.S. and in the exchange-partner countries are also still trying to determine their school-operating procedures for both the current and next Rotary years.District 7910's Youth Exchange team will be planning and carrying out an action plan, to build awareness of and support for the Rotary Youth Exchange program during the '21-'22 Rotary year. Jane Schroeder (right), our district's Student Exchange chair, and the other team members will be able to speak with both Rotary clubs and local high school administrators about the wonderful opportunities the Rotary Youth Exchange program offers not only our participating youth, but also families, teachers, and Rotarians around the world.
