As we enter this holiday season, I ask each of us to carry one simple truth: joy is not universal, and this time of year is not easy for everyone. Some are grieving. Some are overwhelmed. Some are quietly struggling in ways we may never see. Our hearts are especially heavy as we mourn the lives lost in Providence and at Bondi Beach over the weekend. We hold their families, loved ones, and entire communities in our thoughts, and we are reminded just how fragile life can be—and how powerful compassion truly is.
That is why grace matters. Compassion matters. Every moment of patience, every small act of understanding, and every bit of kindness we extend can be the difference between someone feeling unseen and someone feeling supported, valued, and held.
As we gather with family, friends, and fellow Rotarians, let us remember who we are as Rotarians—people of action who lead with service, empathy, and connection, especially when it is needed most. Let us also remain mindful that behind every interaction is a person carrying a story we may not know, a burden we may not see, or a hope that simply needs encouragement.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Rotarians of District 7910 for the incredible work you continue to do across our district. Through your service projects, generosity, fellowship, and unwavering commitment to “Service Above Self,” you bring light into communities near and far—often in quiet ways that make a profound difference. Your dedication embodies the very spirit of Rotary and reflects the best of who we are.
Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, the Winter Solstice, or simply the promise and hope that a new year brings, I wish each of you joy, peace, meaning, and renewed purpose.
Happy holidays to all, and thank you for letting your Rotary light shine so brightly throughout District 7910.
