As we move into November — Rotary Foundation Month — I’m filled with gratitude for the energy, compassion, and dedication I’ve witnessed across District 7910. Over the past few months, I’ve had the privilege of visiting 44 of our 47 clubs, and each visit has reaffirmed what makes our district so remarkable: the commitment to “Service Above Self” and the spirit of fellowship that connects us all.
From club visits and celebrations to hands-on projects like a Habitat for Humanity house build, or pasta dinner, and other community service events, it’s been inspiring to see Rotarians in action. Every event and project demonstrates Rotary’s ability to create meaningful change — building stronger communities, deepening friendships, and showing the public what Rotary is all about.
A special thank you goes out to all the clubs that supported World Polio Day and organized creative End Polio Nowfundraisers throughout October. Your efforts keep Rotary’s promise to the world alive — we are this close to ending polio forever. And to add a little extra motivation… I’ve decided (somewhat hesitantly!) that if we reach 100 Polio Plus Society members in our district, I will take the plunge — literally — in a Polar Plunge to celebrate your commitment. For those who know me, you know I hate the cold, so let’s just say this is a goal worth reaching!
This month, as we celebrate the Rotary Foundation, remember that it’s the engine that powers our impact. The Foundation transforms your generosity into sustainable projects that fight disease, provide clean water, support education, grow local economies, and promote peace. Every dollar makes a difference — and did you know your donations come back to our district three years later to fund the grants and programs we see in action today? That’s the Rotary Foundation at work!
I
’m especially looking forward to seeing a great turnout at our District Foundation Dinner on Wednesday, November 19th at the Portuguese Club in Hudson. It will be a wonderful evening to honor our donors, recognize club achievements, and hear inspiring stories of how your gifts are changing lives. Register here!
Thank you for all that you do to make Rotary shine across District 7910 and beyond. Together, we are creating hope, building connections, and changing lives.
Yours in Rotary Service,
Johnny Ahern
District Governor
