In early May, the BV Rotary, along with kids at the Rockdale Youth Center and community volunteers, planted four native pollinator gardens. They turned the ground and added compost, used string to create grids, laid out the plants, and then the kids, volunteers, and Rotarians started digging. Two raised beds were also put together.
The plants are thriving (thank you, rain!) and the kids have been watering and weeding, with club members stopping by to lend a hand as needed. These gardens will be a beautiful addition to a neighborhood sorely lacking in green space.
This project was supported by a District 7910 Grant and supports Rotary's Area of Focus "Supporting the Environment".
