In collaboration and inspired by the efforts of the Rotary Action Group of Endangered Species (RAGES) endangeredrag.org, the Rotary Club of Acton-Boxborough recently developed online materials and a coloring contest to create awareness in third graders about endangered species.

By going on the webpage pictured at the right actonboxboroughrotary.org/rages, these students learned that the endangered Borneo Pygmy Elephant, Borneo Orangutan and the African Rhinoceros are critically endangered species near extinction and what animal conservation groups and RAGES is doing to help. The students  also learned what all of us can do to help, including decreasing the deforestation of the natural habitats of these animals by actively reducing, reusing and recycling our paper products.

Some third graders even took part in our zentangles rhinoceros coloring contest. Congratulations to the students for participating in this project and to all the winners of the coloring contest.
