Join In No Mow May!
What is No Mow May

The goal of No Mow May is to allow grass to  grow un-mown through the month of May, allowing wild flowers to come through and create habitat and forage  for early season pollinators. This is particularly  important in  urban areas where  floral resources are often limited and everywhere in Massachusetts this year because of  the early spring.

District 7910 is inviting all Rotary Clubs to participate in our No Mow  May campaign by refraining from mowing your lawn through May (and April!), and then educating your community about it by displaying and distributing lawn signs that contain the
name of your Rotary Club (and D7910), and the friendly and playful call-to-action Let's Pollinate!

There is even a template that you can easily customize for your own Rotary Club! See below for how to access it.

Our friend and fellow Rotarian Dave Gardner has created an online design tool on his Boyds Direct website that allows you to easily customize this lawn sign for your Rotary Club. Once you have done that, you can download the sign as a PDF document and decide if you want to use a local printer (for example a member of your Rotary Club), a national chain like Staples, or Boyds Direct itself. IF you order from Boyds, you can choose to pickup your signs (in Stoneham) or have them shipped. Boyds is offering the following quantity pricing for the lawn signs (printed on both sides) and will donate $1 to The Rotary Foundation for every No Mow May sign sold.

Pricing (includes 1 lawn stake per sign):
1-9 10-24 25-49 50+
$19.00 ea $16.50 ea $14.00 ea $11.50 ea

Another point to consider is how to finance these lawn signs: it is entirely up to your Rotary Club to decide if you want to produce and finance these lawn signs out of your own budget, have members pay for their own sign(s) through the club, or if you want to sell them in your community as a potential fundraiser.

To get started with customizing the sign for your Rotary Club, please go to http://rotary7910.boydsdirect.com/ and follow the instructions (contact Sue Peghiny at suef0503@gmail.com if you'd like a little assistance).

That's it!  When you get your signs be sure to put them on your lawn (so your neighbors don't think you're nuts), and in visible locations in your community.  Don't forget to collect them on June 1st so you can use them again next year!
