Demie retired from her clinical social work\, non-profit an d for-profit management roles\, and family caregiving work\, and became a full time climate activist about 6 years ago. She has facilitated a gro up of city staff and climate advocates in the implementation of the resid ential portion of the Newton Climate Action Plan over the past 2 1/2 year s. She is on both the local leadership team for the Newton node of the 3 50Mass climate group\, as well as the statewide steering team for 350Mass . She leads the Climate Action Task Force at the First Unitarian Univers alist Society in Newton\, and was given the Lynn Holbein Award for her so cial justice and climate work with the UUMass Action statewide climate te am in 2022.
