Foundation Notes:  Anticipating A Strong 2016-2017 Rotary Year

By Ralph Hammond

The Pre-Grant Cycle for the 2016-2017 Rotary Year is already making great progress for the April 1 launch of the new grant cycle. Your club should begin to be in a great position to submit its goals and objectives in Club Central in the year it will be working under the leadership of District Governors Elect Pat and Skip Doyle.

Great projects build great Rotarians and strong clubs. It is beginning to look like we can anticipate having a strong Rotary year during ’16-‘17.

District Grant Audit

The annual audit of the District 7910’s grants was performed on December 28. The documentation and records maintained by the district’s grants coordinator, Dick Manelis, were reviewed and found to be maintained in an efficient, orderly, logical and businesslike manner. All grant disbursements were accounted for, with appropriate receipts and corresponding cancelled checks. The District Audit Committee commends Dick for the professional manner in which he has performed his obligations.

On November 28, the Audit Committee sent an invitation to district leaders and the 304 Rotarians who have expressed interest in the District Grant program to become member of that committee. In the almost 20 years of auditing the district’s grant records, only one other Rotarian in addition to the Audit Committee chair has been involved. Perhaps it is the weekly update and total transparency that keeps us all very proud of our district’s grant process. The District Grant file is available for review by Rotarians who provide a thumb drive. If you are interested, contact District Governor Jim Fusco at jim.fusco2@gmail.com.
