Interact, Rotaract, Earlyact, Essex & RYLA sponsored youth are all welcome. Each will participate in two tracks, the track on train-the-trainer for Interact's Peer Leadership & Depression Prevention (PLDP) project and the track for the paper airplane championship.

The stakes are high for the winning airplane so your Rotary sponsored group should host preliminary competitions in the weeks preceding March 17. The championship will be won by the paper airplane with the furthest cumulative distance reached in five throws toward an end line.

In the weeks following the championship, participants will be invited to help:

  • engineer the winning design into a 50 foot version
  • assemble its framework
  • complete the plane by applying artwork as ‘skin’
  • view the launch to enter the Guinness Book of World Records

RULES - Standard weight copy paper or ruled paper is allowed to create the paper airplane, its original size must be 8.5 x 11” and it will be thrown by hand. Nothing can be added, such as tape, glue nor paint.

Please note there is a separate competition for the best art with a paper airplane.  It has no rules (both origami and painted pieces are welcome, for example)  other than to bring it with you on March 17 for the independent judging.

11:30am registration; Noon lunch and icebreakers, 12:30pm-2:30pm concurrent tracks; 2:30p4:30pm switch tracks; 4:30-5pm celebration!
