We were honored at District Governor Karin’s installation on Saturday evening to be able to make some awards for the 2016-17 Rotary Year. The first award was the Rotary Foundation award for Meritorious Service. This was given to PDG Bob Cassidy of the Bedford Rotary Club. It was certainly a well deserved honor.
Did you know that one of the four “Objects of Rotary” involves fellowship? Meeting other Rotarians and their friends, families, and associates. Getting to know one another better. Building better friendships for ourselves and in service to Rotary. Luckily, District 7910 loves to get together, and we have THREE local fellowships. Why don’t you join us?
We are excited to reveal a new public image campaign, People of Action, at this year’s Rotary International Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. As Rotarians from all over the world came to Atlanta, they are experiencing and learning about this global campaign for the first time at the convention, held at Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center, 10-14 June 2017.
One of the most important tasks of all leaders is to identify and train their successors. Doing so early provides many opportunities to pass down institutional knowledge and insures vibrancy of the organization by having plans that build upon what has been done in the past. Imagine how difficult that task is for an organization like Rotary where every position, from the President of Rotary International, 534 District Governors and over 35,500 club Presidents change positions on July 1 every year!
The Hudson Rotary Club and Rotary Club of Nashoba Valley invite everyone to attend the 5th Annual Spirit of Hudson Food & Brewfest at the Hudson-Concord Elks on Saturday August 12th from 4-7pm.

The International Convention Shows It All
The famous Harvard sociologist David Riesman, referring primarily to higher education, said that there are ‘cosmopolitans’ and ‘locals’. Cosmopolitans, many of whom work in large universities, love research, publishing, working with colleagues in other institutions, attending conferences and all that. Locals, more likely found in small colleges, love departmental affairs, and focus on committees, students and classrooms.Often these polar opposites don’t get along. My experience in Rotary suggests some of this is the same for us. There are Rotarians who love working in inter-club, international projects and zone or district affairs. There are others who love primarily the weekly club meeting, local service projects and fellowship. Unlike colleges I have experienced Rotarians respect and appreciate the philosophies of fellow members. This said, there are many of us who simply do not know what a more cosmopolitan Rotary life would be.
District 7910 strives to create and maintain a safe environment for all youth who participate in Rotary activities. To the best of their ability, Rotarians, Rotarians’ spouses and partners, and other volunteers must safeguard the children ad young people they come into contact with and protect them from physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.
This fiscal year we will have $45,000, the most money ever available for District grants. Our goal is to have all clubs apply for a grant. To be qualified to apply clubs must do four simply tasks.
