District 7910 Youth Service Chair 2017-2018, Rotary Club of Acton-Boxborough

I'm very excited to serve as the 2017-2018 Youth Service Chair for our District. Working with Youth has been my life long inspiration and my true passion!.  I'm positive that we all can share it to make a difference in our communities and the world!

In 2010 New Generations (renamed Youth Service in 2013) was added as the Fifth avenue of service of Rotary, joining the other Four avenues as the foundation of club activity. Youth Service recognizes the positive change implemented by youth and young adults through leadership development activities as Rotaract, Interact, RYLA, service projects, and creating international understanding with Rotary Youth Exchange.

Young people are our true partners in service. They help extend the family of Rotary. Today’s Youth are Tomorrow's Rotarians and World Leaders. We build their Leadership skills and develop their motivation and responsibility, and they take action in their communities and around the world, learning those skills for life.

This partnership is mutually beneficial. A great way to energize your club is getting young people involved. It is a very powerful PR tool - a big platform for making your club visible in the community. Meeting and working with their teachers, coaches and parents is a very effective way to attract new members to your club.

For the young generation, Service is in their blood. They are team-oriented. Attracting and engaging them is an easy task – invite them to a meeting, work together at your club’s function or project, start an Interact club in your middle or high school, go to their events or meetings, sponsor students to go to RYLA, sponsor an exchange student.

Yours in Rotary,
