District 7910 and District 7930 are collaborating to support another opportunity for clubs to make a difference doing “service” by providing meals to veterans at The New England Center and Home for Veterans (NECHV) located near Government Center in Boston.

The Week of Rotary covers 12 meal service shifts spread out between May 21 and May 27, in honor of Memorial Day. By proudly partnering with NECHV, you help to ensure that Veterans of every era have the resources they need to live with dignity and independence.
For the week prior to the holiday, Rotarians from across the 2 districts will assist the NECHV by providing teams of volunteers to serve meals and interact with the Veteran residents of the Center.

The following service shifts have been reserved for A Week of Rotary:
Weekday Lunch Services (11:30am-12:30pm)
    May 21st
    May 22nd
    May 23rd

NECHV is requesting a team of up to 12 people per meal service with tasks divided into two particular shifts: 10 people for serving meals and providing wait-staff support in the dining hall, and 2 people designated for social engagement – playing games, cards, or simply chatting with the residents.

Each Rotary Club is welcome to reserve a shift specifically for its members. You can work in teams of 12 or your club can cover a partial shift and work with Rotarians from other clubs from either district.

Please coordinate with Karin Gaffney (karinmgaffney@gmail.com) or David Gardner (djg@boydsdirect.com) to reserve a shift.  Shifts will be reserved on a first come, first served basis, so don’t delay in making your reservation with your District Governor. We expect these shifts to be spoken for very quickly, so make your plans now.

Once you’ve confirmed a shift, your District Governor will share the information with CJ Beck at the NECHV, and he will follow up with specific details including how to confirm your members’ attendance, arrival time, attire, and parking information.  Any and all questions can be raised with CJ Beck, charles.beck@nechv.org.

If your club would like to sponsor a meal at NECHV instead of or in addition to serving a meal, we will gladly provide you with information on meal sponsorship.

This is a fantastic opportunity to give back to the men and women who have served our country.
