The Rotary Club of Concord presented a donation to Shelter Box International in the amount of $10,000 on February 15th at Verrill Farm in Concord.
Shelter Box was chosen by RCOC to be the benefactor of its 2nd annual Oktoberfest, 2017, which was held September 23rd at Verrill Farm and featured over 50 brewers, 4 live bands, family friendly activities, and delicious food from Verrill Farm and local food trucks!

The $10,000 raised at Oktoberfest and donated to Shelter Box will allow Shelter Box to purchase up to 10 tents which provide temporary immediate housing for people who have been displaced by natural or political disaster. Or, the donation could help Shelter Box provide up to 66 Shelter Kits which provide people with the tools they would need to rebuild their damaged homes. These kits allow people to stay on their property and repair their homes, which is vitally important in impoverished areas where people don't have any insurance or property rights. Although Shelter Box is an international organization which has provided much needed aid to places like Haiti, Malawi, and Peru (among many other countries), the organization found itself to be very busy domestically in Houston and Puerto Rico shortly after Oktoberfest. Concord Rotarians are hard at work planning Oktoberfest, 2018!
