Rotary District 7910 is pleased to announce the awarding of the David and Eleanor Morley Endowed Global Grant Scholarship to two recipients, both residents of the District.  This unique Scholarship established in 2002 honors David and Eleanor Morley.  David Morley was a dedicated Rotarian, graduate of Worcester Polytech Institute, and worked all his life for General Electric.  David and Eleanor believed in the good works of Rotary and so established this Scholarship in their name to be awarded by D7910 and managed by The Rotary Foundation Permanent Fund.  From 2007 to 2010 four recipients received the Scholarship, all WPI graduates.   This is the first time in eight years the Scholarship has been awarded, with careful administration by the Scholarship Subcommittee of the District Foundation Committee.   Each Scholarship is for $ 35,000.  The recipients this year are:
Camilla Vogt of Concord sponsored by Rotary Club of Concord.  She will be studying this fall at the University of Oxford School of Government in England.  She plans to receive a Masters in Government and later an MBA, both from Oxford.  Her focus is investing in innovative agriculture technology to bolster food security world-wide.  Her area of focus policy is Economic and Community Development.

Liam Gaziano of Dedham sponsored by Neponset Valley Rotary.  At the present time he is involved in graduate studies at the University of Cambridge in England where he is researching the causes of heart disease using a genetic approach.  He is working in collaboration with Harvard Medical School and the Veterans Hospital in Jamaica Plain, using the latter's data base as a source of research.  He is in the program to receive a Doctorate in Epidemiology.  Later, he plans to attend medical school . His area of focus policy is Disease Prevention and Treatment.

We congratulate these two young persons and wish them well as they set forth fulfilling Rotary's goals as part of their future. The sponsor clubs, Concord and Neponset Valley, will now submit global grant applications to the Rotary Foundation for final approval of the two scholarships by June 2018.
