Join us as we salute the 2017-2018 Rotary Service Heroes. This year’s Rotary theme is Rotary: Making a Difference and DG Karin’s number one goal is to strengthen clubs and strengthen communities by increasing the hands-on service that each club is doing.

Each club President has been invited to nominate one “service hero.” It can be someone from their club who should be recognized for what he or she has done in their club, in the community, or beyond.

The recipient should be someone who has strongly demonstrated “Service Above Self,” and may be an “unsung hero” who has not previously been recognized for his or her efforts.

The recipient could also be a non-Rotarian whose actions are in line with the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.”

All of our heroes will have made their mark in at least one of Rotary’s Six Areas of Focus. These are: Peace & Conflict Resolution, Disease Prevention & Treatment, Water & Sanitation, Maternal & Child Health, Basic Education & Literacy, and Economic & Community Development.
Our keynote speaker for this evening of celebration is PDG and Past Rotary Zone Coordinator Dr. Mary Berge.

As a Psychologist and Rotarian, Mary is passionate about serving others. Mary is a Rotary Foundation Alumni, having gotten her start in Rotary 2002 as a GSE team member to Sweden. In the Rotary year of 2008-2009 she served as the District 7330 Governor and later spent three years as a Zone Coordinator responsible for leadership training.

Mary is a Major Donor and member of the Bequest Society. She and her husband have hosted nine youth exchange students in their home.
Mary was a speaker at the Rotary International Convention in Portugal, a speaker at the first “Women in Rotary” Conference in Romania, and she has served as the President’s Representative to two District Conferences.

As our keynote speaker, Mary will share with us tales of the unexpected heroes that she has encountered during her life and in her travels with Rotary.
You will not want to miss this event! So please join us as we celebrate and recognize the accomplishments of our Rotary and Community Heroes!
