Governor's Message

By Jim Fusco
Last week, I visited seven Rotary clubs: Athol-Orange, Billerica, Hudson, Maynard, Tyngsboro-Dunstable, Uxbridge, and Waltham. What a thrill it was to visit these clubs and have an opportunity to renew acquaintances and make new friends.

It was a busy week, but between the seven visits I found time to attend a Board of Directors meeting, attend the Foundation Committee meeting, travel to Rotary International headquarters in Evanston, Illinois, for Presidents-Elect Training Session training, and return in time to volunteer at the Rotary Club of Littleton’s Triathlon. This week, I will once again need my running sneakers because I will be making 10 visits: Acton-Boxborough, Auburn, Franklin, Leominster, Littleton, Newton, Sturbridge, Wachusett Area, Wellesley, and Worcester.

It will be an exciting week. My complete visitation scheduled is posted on the District Website, in the left column of the Home page.

We had a very successful Foundation Committee meeting last Wednesday, chaired by Roy Balfour. We had 22 attendees representing 17 clubs in the district. Encouraging clubs to attend district committee meetings, is one of my goals - and I was thrilled with the attendance. When club members attend committee meetings, we get a chance to hear first-hand about club issues that we need to address. I know that when club members are engaged, then we will have a great year!

The July District Fellowship Golf League was held last Thursday, and everyone had a great time. The participation and excitement are growing, and Wayne Paradis of the Rotary Club of Clinton had a hole-in-one. Congratulations, Wayne! We are looking forward to our third outing on August 19 at Framingham Country Club. If you are not a golfer, then you should consider joining the participants at the 19th hole for fellowship.

Val Gets Chaired

It's been a tradition in District 7910 for the sitting governor to present a Rotary Rocking Chair to the outgoing District Governor at the District Conference in May. While Val Callahan (seated) was DG for 2014-2015, she did not receive her rocking chair at the 2015 District Conference.

Last week, current I made good on that tradition.

Val and I  are shown posing with Karin Gaffney (far right), who will be DG in 2017-2018, and Pat and Skip Doyle (third and second, respectively, from right), who will be co-DGs in 2016-2017. Thanks, Val, for all your fine service above self!

Communications Call

Remember, I will be using our District website to communicate and share District information, so I urge you to visit that website often. If you are not sure how to log in, just let me know and I would be glad to step you through the process.

I want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support. Remember, my Team and I are here for you. If there is anything we can do for you or your club, just ask!

We will have a great year!
