Foundation Notice: District Grant proposals and qualification status

District Governors-Elect Pat and Skip Doyle received 28 District Grant proposals at PETS (Presidents Elect Training Seminar) on March 11.  A review of these proposals revealed that two clubs, Needham and Shrewsbury are planning international projects in India and Haiti, respectively.  District 7910 leaves the decision on project location to the clubs in the 2016-‘17 Rotary year that begins this July 1, provided the clubs comply with the requirements for international District Grants. The two clubs should look up these requirements in “Foundation Grants in 2016-17 and Beyond.”
 
Among the 28 Rotary clubs that did submit proposals, as of April 7:
  • 13 have already met the $100-per-capita Foundation Contribution criterion.  They are: Acton-Boxborough, Bedford, Brookline, Concord, Gardner, Leominster, Lowell, Milford, Montachusett Area, Nashoba Valley, Sturbridge, Wachusett Area, Westborough, and Westwood
  • Two clubs – Auburn and Sturbridge  - have exceeded $95 in per-capita Foundation contributions and will likely get to $100 in April
  • 13 other clubs need to step up their Foundation giving in the next 10 weeks to achieve the $100 threshold for per-capita Foundation Contributions by June 30: Chelmsford, Clinton, Dedham, Framingham, Littleton, Marlborough, Natick, Needham, Neponset Valley Sunrise, Northborough, Shrewsbury, Waltham, and Wellesley
The 23 clubs that did not submit proposals are urged to submit their proposals by April 15. Click here for the proposal form in Word format. Among these 23 clubs, as of April 7:
  • Nine clubs have already met the $100-per-capita Foundation Contribution criterion. Athol-Orange Area, Ayer, Billerica, Charles River, Fitchburg, Franklin, Merrimack Valley Area, Westford, and Worcester. They should submit proposals. Athol-Orange and Worcester may request that the proposals they submitted in October-November 2015 be considered in 2016-‘17.
  • Two clubs – Fitchburg East and Groton-Pepperell - have exceeded $95 in per-capita Foundation Contributions and will likely get to $100 in April
  • 12 clubs need to step up their Foundation giving in the next 10 weeks to achieve the $100 threshold for per-capita Foundation Contributions by June 30: Brookfields, Dracut, Hudson, Maynard, Newton, Southborough, Southbridge, Tewksbury, Tyngsboro-Dunstable, Uxbridge, Watertown, and Weston.

All Clubs must meet two additional eligibility criteria for grant participation in 2016-‘17.
  1. The 2016-'17 Memorandum of Understanding must be executed.  As of April 7, only Sturbridge and Wachusett Area have signed MOUs. To download the form in PDF format, click here. Complete the form and send it via e-mail to District Stewardship Subcommittee Chair Ed King at eking@rotary7910.org.
  2. All clubs must have at least one member, preferably two, trained at two Foundation Grants Qualification Seminars to be held.  Registration for these seminars can be better - only nine different clubs were registered as of April 9. They are:
    1. Waltham Seminar, Saturday, April 30, 9 a.m. to 12 noon: Eight clubs – Brookline, Framingham, Montachusett Area, Nashoba Valley (two), Needham, Sturbridge, Wachusett Area, and Wellesley.
    2. Leominster Seminar, Tuesday, May 9, 6 to 9 p.m.:  Five clubs – Athol Orange, Montachusett Area, Nashoba Valley, Needham, Wachusett Area, and Wellesley. (Note: Four are duplicates with the Waltham seminar).
The other 43 clubs are urged to have at least one member registered for one of the two seminars.
